A voter told my niece this week that the Matt McCall campaign inspired him to vote for the first time in fifteen years. Fifteen years! That is a long time to not vote. As I’ve thought about the state of our country and elections past, I’ve come to believe that people are cynical because they don’t believe they have any choices. There hasn’t been a true conservative choice for our district for many, many years.
Some people say, “Why try? All the politicians we elect turn out the same.” Our problem in Congressional District 21 is that we’ve been sending the same man for twenty-seven years and HE’S turned out the same—each time. Lamar Smith tells us that he’s a conservative because WE are conservatives, but his record on spending begs to differ. In the last three months alone, Mr. Smith has voted to break the sequester, cut veteran’s pensions, spend $1.1 trillion in the omnibus budget deal, and spend over $900 billion in the Ag Bill that funds food stamps and subsidies. He also has a long record of voting for debt ceiling increases that only changes for political motivations.
If elected, I will be a citizen-legislator who is for freedom, opportunity, and growth through a much smaller government until the end of my time in Congress.
If you haven’t voted already, please vote for me on Election Day, Tuesday, March 4th.
I appreciate your support, consideration, and prayers,
Matt McCall
